Travel is Good for the Soul

4 Reasons Why Travel is Good for the Soul

4 Reasons Why Travel is Good for the Soul
There will always be a reason for you to postpone your vacations. There’s always one more project, one more paper needed to sign, one more deal being closed, one more school function you’re needed to attend.

Before you know it, you’re back into the same old routine, doing the same things, and dreaming of the time when you’re free for that vacation again.

Then there’s the financial side of it. You want to save up for so many things, most of them practical, and it swallows up any extra you might have lying around to put in your travel piggy bank.

First of all, the trick to having time is making time. An extra hour or day doesn’t just materialize from thin air. You need to consciously make an effort to free up yourself for however long you need.

Secondly, the money is something a little trickier because most people earn just enough for operational expenses and to save some for a rainy day. But when you can, no matter how small, set aside a little to a travel fund. Slowly but surely you’ll get to build enough for even a weekend hurrah.

Taking that much needed break is really more of a necessity rather than a luxury; and it doesn’t have to be a grand vacation. Think of it as an investment in your happiness, peace of mind and well-being. When you look at it that way, getting away for a little while is actually a MUST.

1. It breaks your routine
Everyday city-life can be really stressful to a person. It’s not just your work that gets to you but the different challenges of the daily grind. Exploring new places allows you to breath, in more ways than one.

It gives you the chance to forget about your to do lists, to lay your eyes on something other then your computer screens, and to allow yourself to enjoy nothingness and not feel guilty about it.

2. It opens you to new cultures
Being in new places opens your eyes to how different your world is to others. You get a chance to be an outsider and see things from a new perspective.

Seeing how different cities operate from their airport to their public transport, to how their cities function throughout the day gives you an idea of what works and what doesn’t, what you can learn from it and all that.

From a business point of view, travel gives you possible ideas for business and projects. Seeing how advertisements are done, what new trends are there, and how you can bring it home and tailor fit it to your own brand or company.

3. It recharges you
One of the reasons why people travel is because they get burnt out at work or at home. They want to be someplace else where their responsibilities won’t follow and where bosses don’t know their name.
Being away from it all recharges you to face them again with a renewed energy, a possibly different point of view, and a fresh mind.

A change in scenery can do wonders for your creativity!

4. It helps you get to know yourself better
Perhaps the most important gift of travel is that you are given the chance to get to know yourself better.

Travel tests your weaknesses and strengths, it’s designed for you to get to know your limits and sometimes even to push you to your breaking point. It forces you to face your fears, to know where you draw the line between struggle and comfort.

If you’re traveling with your partner or other people, it will test your relationship. Travel, like living together, poses different challenges for relationships. Like they say, it’s a make or break type of situation.

Traveling tests just how well you know each other, what each other’s priorities are when taking trips, what they’re like under stress, etc.

It really also comes with its own set of challenges, but through it all, you come out stronger and readier to face what it is you need to face when you’re back in the fold.

So travel as often as you can, not to just to get away, but to get closer– to yourself, to your traveling companions, and to the life you always wanted.
